Train.Red & Garmin CIRQA: New Interface and Advanced Muscle Oxygenation Tracking for Garmin Devices

When we exercise, we look at two main metrics to understand how our body responds: how fast our heart is beating (BPM) and how much oxygen our working muscles are receiving (SmO2). Tracking these two metrics live during a workout helps you stay at the right pace and maximize your performance.
This real-time tracking experience—powered by seamless two-way integration between Train.Red muscle oxygenation sensors and the Garmin CIRQA system—is now available for the latest Garmin devices, including the Fenix series, featuring a fully revamped display design!
Garmin users can now monitor all muscle load and oxygen level data directly from their wrist or handlebars using newly designed, color-coded screens without needing to check their phone during a session.

What’s New on the Display?

1. Updated State and Load Display
Designed specifically for modern Garmin displays (such as the Fenix series), the new interface presents real-time muscle fatigue, effort level (Hard/Load), and recovery status (Rest) through vibrant, high-contrast dials. Understanding your muscle's current state at a single glance is easier than ever.

2. Live SmO2 and Trend Tracking
Track your target muscle's oxygen level (such as 49%) and real-time changes second-by-second right from your device. Small directional arrows next to the values instantly indicate whether muscle oxygenation is trending up or down.

3. Flexible Screen Layouts and Expanded Device Support

With the latest update, app support covers Garmin's full lineup of current watches and bike computers, working seamlessly across the board.
Additionally, the muscle-state zone bar was completely rebuilt to adapt automatically to your screen setup:
  • You can use the screen as one big data field or split it into up to 6 distinct data fields.
  • Regardless of how you split or place the fields, the new design adjusts automatically: curving along the edge on round watches and shrinking to a straight bar in smaller fields, with all text remaining clear of the bar for maximum readability.
4. Total-Body andLocal Muscle Balance Through Two-Way Integration
Heart rate (BPM) data from your Garmin device flows into the Train.Red ecosystem while Train.Red muscle data is sent directly to your Garmin display. This true two-way communication allows you to effortlessly balance overall cardiovascular fatigue alongside localized muscle workload in one unified view.

Why Garmin Remains Essential in Advanced Sports Ecosystems
While there are many smartwatches and fitness trackers on the market, Garmin holds a unique position for serious athletes and endurance training enthusiasts. Garmin continues to lead this space by delivering the uninterrupted data streams and advanced biometric integration capabilities that professional athletes depend on.

Manage Your Training with Real-Time Data
Just like across the supported Garmin ecosystem, you can use the Train.Red Connect IQ (CIRQA) app on compatible Garmin devices—such as the Fenix lineup—to take full advantage of this bi-directional data flow: optimize rest periods, monitor recovery speed between sets, and adjust workout intensity based on objective biological data.
